What to bring to the worksite — every day
Think layers. Jadán sits at 9,300 feet — mornings are cold, midday is not, and the UV is severe year round.
Day by Day
Land in Cuenca

Into Jadán, and meeting your family
The only work day that doesn't follow the standard rhythm — you're travelling and getting settled first.

- 8:00Depart for Jadán
- 9:00Arrive. Meet your family and go to your home.
- 11:00Meet in the center, out to the worksites
- 4:00 pmBack to your home. Shower, dinner, rest.

Wednesday Days 3, 4 & 6 Work days
Standard work days
These three run exactly on the rhythm above — 7:45 check-in through 8:30 home. What's different about them:

- 9:00–11:00Kids Camp in LlayzhatanoptionalAn alternative to the worksite if construction isn't your thing, or your body needs a day off it.
- eveningsBingo, a movie, traditional games, volleyball — the lineup shifts year to year
Half day, then the mountain
- 7:45–12:00Check-in, then worksites until noon

Sunday Days 8, 9 & 10 Cuenca
Back to the city — both options are included

Alongside the Work
Kid's Camp
Mornings in Llayzhatan, roughly 9–11. If construction isn’t your thing, or your body needs a day off the worksite, this is where you go.
Pop Up Shop
New and gently used clothes, set up in the center one morning during the week.
Pachamama
Tuesday afternoon hike, volunteers only. Short and steep or an easy walk. Dinner in Cuenca afterward.
Evening Activites
Enjoy time with your family playing Bingo, a photo scavenger hunt and other fun activities.
