We build alongside families in Ecuador. The local leaders in Jad\u00e1n bring us the homes that need work and we go look at them together. Then we price the materials, weigh the skills each job takes, and decide what we can take on with the volunteers and the money we have that year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every July we travel to Jad\u00e1n, a rural parish 45 minutes from the center of Cuenca, and spend a week working on homes. Most of it is bathrooms. Some of it is roofs, floors, walls, pasture fencing, and bridges. El Maestro, the construction director, runs the build. You stay with a family in the community.<\/p>\n

The 2026 projects are finished. The 2027 projects are being selected now.<\/p>\n

No volunteer work trips.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>Since 2022 Guayaquil has not been safe enough to send volunteers, and that has not changed.<\/div>\n

We worked with leaders in this northeast Guayaquil barrio from 2015: bathrooms, roofs, floors, reinforced walls, and food and basic supplies during the pandemic. Our work there continues through Nomads Scholars, which covers uniforms, books, supplies, and tutoring for students in Nueva Prosperina.<\/p>\n

We can still take on a building project in Nueva Prosperina when local leaders ask for one and there is funding directed to it. Materials are bought locally and the work is done by local labor. It is funded work, not a trip.<\/p>\n
