Who we are

Since 2003, a week at a time.

Linda Shorette founded Nomads of Hope in 2003 with her husband, Rod, in Monson, Massachusetts. The first trips were in the United States, including on Indian reservations, where the Nomads were adopted into the Northern Cheyenne community in Montana and helped save a struggling fish hatchery on the Apache reservation in New Mexico.

The first trip to Ecuador was to Guasmo Sur in Guayaquil, with Adopta una Familia. In 2015 we started working with a group of local leaders in Nueva Prosperina, also in Guayaquil, and we continue to support that community through Nomads Scholars. Over the years hundreds of volunteers have given a week of their time to build and repair homes. In 2020 Linda and Rod moved to Ecuador, and the work grew to include English classes around Cuenca.
