Hello future Nomads! My name is Malcolm Doepke (it’s pronounced dough-peak, like a really delicious mountain). I’m a sophomore at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. My first experience with Nomads was in the summer of 2016 when we flew to Nueva Prosperina, Ecuador and it was so good I went again in the summer of 2017.
Every single one of my experiences with our community were exponentially beneficial. What I learned in being submerged in a completely Spanish speaking environment proved to be invaluable in that it was not only a large reason as to why I aced both years of Spanish at school, but also helped me make connections with people by empathizing with their story. Nomads is all about making change and the ability to make a change in someone’s life is so easy, all you need to do is try it.
